What are Churros?
Churros are a popular Mexican dessert that is quite popular in the US. They are made with simple choux pastry fried in hot oil and coated in cinnamon sugar. Churros are a popular carnival or fair treat and let’s not forget Costco churros. We can’t get enough of their spongy soft centers, crisp edges, and sweet coating.
In a medium pan, heat the water, the butter and the salt until it starts to boil.
Add the flour, lower the heat and stir until the dough starts to dry, like the famous “Pâte à choux”.
Take out of the fire and continue beating till cool down, or to make it easy, transfer to a mixer and let id work until cool down.
Add the eggs one at a time and continue beating till a smooth consistency.
Fill out a pastry bag with a small star tip and pour in hot oil. 180° C or 356° F.
Fry until golden.
Drain them on paper towels and coat with a mix of sugar and cinnamon.
Choose the sauce you like and enjoy your sweet moment.
250g water (1 cup)
125g flour type 55 (1 cup)
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp salt
Vegetable Oil to fry
1 tsp cinnamon
